We Love our Local Authors!
Our Storytellers
The province of Newfoundland and Labrador is home to talented storytellers informed by diverse worldviews and experiences. In this evolving feature, we will highlight some of our gifted writers, past and present, and celebrate Newfoundland and Labrador storytelling through the written word.
Indigenous Storyteller in Residence
A.C. Hunter Public Library in St. John’s was honoured to host Emily Critch as NLPL’s Indigenous Storyteller in Residence during Summer 2023. Emily (she/they) is a Mi’kmaw and settler artist, curator, and writer from Elmastukwek, Ktaqmkuk Territory (Bay of Islands, NL) currently living in St. John’s.
Supported by TD Bank Group (TD) through the TD Ready Commitment, we plan to host another Indigenous Storyteller in Residence during 2024. More information on this opportunity, including a call for Expressions of Interest, will come in the new year.
