How to Support your Library
Since 1935, NL Public Libraries have served communities large and small throughout Newfoundland and Labrador by providing free access to books and other library resources. NLPL champions literacy, a love of reading, and the exploration of diverse ideas, cultures and worldviews. Your donation will be used to enhance the services and collections made possible with core provincial funding, and facilitate access to library materials for all by helping to keep NL Public Libraries fines-free.
Personal or corporate donations in support of NL Public Libraries can be made to the non-profit Provincial Information and Library Resources Board and are eligible for a tax receipt.

Donating in support of NL Public Libraries is a wonderful way of paying tribute to a family member, friend, mentor or colleague. To make an in honour or memorial gift, please indicate so on the donation form or include a note with your cheque, along with the name of the person you would like to pay tribute to. A message acknowledging your gift will be sent upon request.
Special Occasion & Teacher Gifts
Inviting guests to a birthday, graduation or other party to bring a donation to NL Public Libraries in place of a gift is a great way to contribute to building an informed, engaged and connected community.
Looking to give a gift instead? We can send acknowledgement of a birthday, Mother’s Day/Father’s Day, or other holiday gift upon request. Donations to NLPL make great teacher gifts too!
Bequests
Show appreciation for NLPL and benefit future users by choosing to leave a gift for the Provincial Information and Library Resources Board in your will. Legacy gifts can provide tax advantages for surviving family members and make a lasting positive impact on library programs and services.
Volunteer with Us
Local Library Boards
Throughout our province, volunteers on local library boards are championing the work of NLPL and contributing to the well-being of their communities. Local board members are organized, community-minded people who advocate for public libraries, fund-raise to enhance local collections and programs, and support the work of NLPL employees. Ask at your local library about board volunteer opportunities.
Guest Speaker Program
Do you have a special interest or expertise that you would like to share with your community? NLPL offers a variety of free programs featuring qualified guest speakers on topics such as gardening, health and well-being, community history, and financial literacy. Contact library staff near you to find out more.
Other Adult Volunteer Opportunities
NLPL recognizes the value of community volunteers interested in supporting the work of library employees. Please contact your local library to find out more about the approval process for volunteers and options for helping.
Teen Volunteer Opportunities
If you are an intermediate or secondary school student (grades 7-12), helping out at the public library is a great way to meet your graduation volunteering requirement. We welcome also students who are meeting program requirements for the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Scouts Canada, Girl Guides of Canada, or other community youth groups. Please contact your local library to find out more about options for helping.
